Role overview
You will focus predominantly on the development and extension of the platform for an existing payment engine, its APIs and microservices. The applications are written in Java using Spring frameworks (e.g., JPA, JMS, Streaming, Batch) and are deployed via Azure DevOps pipelines.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Full-stack/platform ownership: development, test, acceptance and production environments.
- Automation: manage configuration with Ansible, deploy via pipelines and automate repetitive tasks with scripting.
- Testing & operations: regression testing (functional, performance, security), deployments, data center failover, backups/restore, security monitoring and full stack monitoring.
- Lifecycle & security: life cycle management of OS, middleware and database components; manage interface encryption certificates, user access, vulnerability analysis and patching.
- Agile collaboration: work in an Agile/Scrum squad, support backlog items, demo features and provide handovers.
- Monitoring improvements: implement and improve event alerts and monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, telemetry).
- HA & DR: support high availability and disaster recovery tests.
- Tooling & performance: implement and work with tooling focused on performance, stability and security.
- Automation & optimisation: identify opportunities to automate features, deployments and monitoring.
- Root cause & solutions: analyse issues or gaps and propose viable solutions; take ownership through to completion.
- Specifications: assist with technical specifications for change requests and user stories.
- Environment setup: work on automation, monitoring, environment setup and Azure DevOps pipelines; continuous deployment and delivery using Azure DevOps.
- Compliance: implement IT risk & security controls and comply with internal guidelines and mandatory training.
What you’ll bring to the team
- Experience: 5+ years in a DevOps role.
- Automation tools: hands-on with at least one tool (Ansible, Chef, Salt, Terraform, etc.).
- Cloud & CI/CD: experience with Azure DevOps or Google Cloud; CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps, Git, Sonar, Checkmarx.
- Monitoring & logging: familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack or similar tools.
- Operating systems & networking: strong knowledge of Red Hat operating systems (preferably RHEL certified) and networking; experience in clustered environments, server management and troubleshooting.
- Virtualization & containers: experience with VMWare, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift or similar.
- Scripting & automation: ability to automate releases and operations using Python, Shell, Ansible.
- Soft skills: strong analytical skills, proactivity, knowledge sharing, communicative and curious.
- Technical knowledge: general knowledge about REST APIs, DevOps & SRE concepts, and RDBMS concepts.
Nice to have
- Basic knowledge of the Spring Boot framework.
- Low latency infrastructure stack knowledge.
- Security and IT Risk experience (SOX, vulnerability management).
- Advanced English language skills.
- Bachelor/Master level education in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with TIBCO EMS/MQ or WebSphere.
