Role overview
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Specialist to ensure compliance across offshore O&M projects. You will support project teams, contribute to safety culture programmes, conduct risk assessments, oversee complex offshore activities and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Compliance & advice: Provide ongoing support and advice to project teams to ensure compliance with statutory H&S obligations, codes, standards and company safety requirements.
- Regulatory duties: Support execution of duties under relevant European health and safety coordination regulations and comparable construction/design regulations (including UK CDM 2015 principles).
- Safety culture: Contribute to, support and where required lead the implementation of the project safety culture programme.
- Risk management: Drive H&S risk management within O&M projects, support development of Risk Assessments / Method Statements (RAMS) and monitor compliance during execution.
- Emergency preparedness: Plan and conduct drills/exercises to validate emergency response provisions.
- Assurance: Plan and execute audits and inspections to assure activities under project scope.
- Incident management: Oversee incidents and safety observations, investigate incidents, review external investigation reports and ensure satisfactory closeout of actions.
- Standards & lessons learned: Implement lessons learned and safety alerts; support development and update of safety standards, instructions and guidelines and ensure their dissemination across projects.
- Information management: Ensure maintenance of Health and Safety File information and effective communication between all parties and duty-holders.
Your profile
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in an offshore project environment; proven experience as an H&S professional, preferably in offshore wind, energy or oil & gas sectors.
- Qualifications: Minimum level 3 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (NEBOSH NGC or equivalent) with ambition for further development.
- Technical understanding: Good technical and practical understanding of the offshore wind environment and applicable legislation, codes and standards for offshore and onshore construction projects.
- Legislation & design: Full and detailed understanding of applicable H&S related construction and design legislation (e.g. H&S coordinator in Europe / CDM in UK).
- Approach: Flexible, practical and proactive approach to managing operational challenges; ability to coach teams in challenging environments.
- Systems & auditing: Experience with H&S management systems and auditing.
- Supply chain & relationships: Experience managing H&S in the supply chain and experience with client/contractor relationships and management.
- Communication: Strong command of English, both verbal and written; ability to interact productively within offshore teams across client, contractor, supplier and internal interfaces.
- Desirable: Working knowledge of Marine Coordination, Wind Turbine Safety Rules, High Voltage Safety and other electrical/mechanical safe systems of work in wind farms.
